"He's clouding her judgement."
"What?" Looking up, Simpson followed Kavanagh's gaze across the mess hall to where Dr Weir and Major Sheppard were eating lunch together.
Kavanagh jerked his head. "Sheppard. That's what happens when you get into bed with the military." His eyes narrowed. "Probably literally. I bet they're... you know...."
Simpson rolled her eyes. "And if they are? It's none of our business."
"It is when she starts making bad calls. I don't want her screwing us just because she's...."
Simpson rolled her eyes again. "You know, just because it's scientifically proven that men think with that part...."

Stepping through the Gate, Markham was still thinking about what he'd seen when they were gearing up on Atlantis: Sheppard examining the scrapes Teyla'd acquired in their team's latest fight with the Wraith.
"D'you think he has something going on with her?" Markham kept his voice low so the Athosian bringing up the rear couldn't hear.
"What?" Ahead, Bates was twitchily scanning their surroundings.
"Sheppard. With Teyla. Do you think—?"
Bates cast him a surprised look, as if he hadn't considered the possibility before, and then his expression darkened "Yeah, probably. Dammit. Woman's a damn security risk as it is...."

"I am telling you. He only bickers like that with people he really likes. Everyone else? Sarcasm or just plain rude." Radek gave the console he was supposed to be monitoring a cursory glance before going back to the data on his laptop that was making a nightshift in Ops barely tolerable.
"More than his career's worth, though, surely?" Chuck swivelled in his chair.
Radek shrugged. "He has the gene. SGC will not care. Besides, even if we find a ZPM and make contact, they will only know what we tell them."
"What happens in Atlantis stays in Atlantis?"
"Exactly."

"They're in the gym again." Rodney paced behind Carson. "There's just something about two guys wrestling that's so... so...."
"Homo-erotic?" Carson, peering into a microscope, knew Rodney couldn't see his face, and felt safe to smirk. "Maybe you're just jealous because they haven't invited you for a threesome."
"A...?" Rodney spluttered. "Wait." His tone turned sharp. "Are you saying...?"
Carson shrugged. "Would it matter?"
"Yes!"
Carson twisted in surprise. He hadn't thought Rodney—.
"It's not that." Rodney flapped his hands. "He's just so... uncivilized. And... oh my god, I'm not going to be able to unsee it now, am I?"
oOo
"Colonel, I don't like to pry, but... is everything all right?" When John raised an eyebrow, Elizabeth elaborated, "Major Lorne told me there've been a few times the past two weeks you haven't answered your radio, and Rodney mentioned he's met you in the corridor outside Doctor Heightmeyer's office twice."
John went red. "She's... good to talk to."
Elizabeth nodded. "Then I'm glad you're talking."

Later, twined around Kate, sweat cooling on their bare skin, he told her about the conversation.
"'Talking'?" She giggled, and then sighed. "I suppose we should tell them. I am the expedition psychologist. Professional duty...."
