I love that he has a soft spot for Kaylee.

I think there's enough evidence in the show that can be interpreted as Jayne having a "thing" for Kaylee. *g* And I thought it added a nice contrast to all the other things that are going on here.

And yes! Jayne's mom turning up would have been awesome. Because he's so obviously still a big kid where she's concerned, and she obviously put some good stuff in there bringing him up so he's not just a big, violent, greedy dude. (And yeah, she'd probably end up liking Simon and ticking Jayne off for being resentful about that. *g*)
